In January 1991, Latvian efforts for complete independence culminated, and Moscow responded by sending Soviet army troops. At least seven people were killed and many injured in the bloody clashes between 13 and 27 January. The Latvians eventually defended their cities and their newly gained independence. After the screening of the film on 23.4. in Prague's Lucerna, together with the Representation of the European Commission of the Czech Republic and the Latvian Embassy, we prepared an extensive discussion on disinformation, interference in the rights of sovereign states, and hybrid threats. The film's topicality is also due to the current war in Ukraine.

The head of the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic, Monika Landmannová, journalist Ondřej Soukup, historian Luboš Švec and cyber security expert Oldřich Bruža will participate in the debate, moderated by Mr. Michael Rozsypal.

The talk will take place on 21.4. After the film screening in the Lucerna cinema in Prague and the recording of the discussion will be available for viewing after further screenings of this film in the other festival cities.

The debate will be attended by philosopher Anna Hogenová and sociologist Martin Tremčinský, moderated by Michael Rozsypal.

The Office of the European Parliament organizes the screening as part of the 'LUX Film Days' of the European Parliament and the European Film Academy.
