After the film Whale Nation screening, Czech world-renowned filmmaker Steve Lichtag (Stingl - Little Big Okima, Ocean Adventure, Aldabra: Once Upon a Time) will come to the Brno observatory for a discussion. The talk will be about their fascination with the underwater world and whales and his earlier and famous filming of a great white shark without a cage. The conference will be broadcast live at the Světozor cinema and online. The discussion recording will be available after further screenings of this film in the other festival cities.

After the screening of the film How We Were, Ľuboš Slovák will come to the Brno observatory for a discussion. Ľuboš deals with the relationship between man and non-human nature in various ways. At the Department of Environmental Studies, FSS MU philosophically examines changes in the concepts of nature and develops enlivening learning methods inspired by deep ecology. The talk will be broadcast live to the Světozor cinema and the online world.

In Brno and Ostrava, seven films will be shown in astronomical observatories transformed into movie theaters. We will look at the Moon Base in a detailed project or Greenland, where the temperature is -22.7°C and the Arctic Ocean inspires electronic music. We will discuss planetary problems after the visually captivating documentary How We Were; we will celebrate Earth Day with the mostly invisible inhabitants of Planet Prague and the marine Nation of Whales, with always funny Lukáš Rumlena interviews. Families with children will enjoy the observatories and planetariums during the busy weekend. For the older ones, we are preparing an asteroid Mission, a search for the impact site of space debris. The youngest will go with the ever-hungry duo of animated squirrels to another planet for the tempting Hazelnuts!

Do you know how people figured out that they can also watch fairy tales, not just read or listen to them?

They found that the eyes "remember" what they saw a short time ago. Thanks to this, more than a hundred years ago, film was born. But it was a long journey full of interesting things. We will get to know them in the amusement park of film inventions. And we will also create our own short film stories. We will watch them in devices such as a praxinoscope, but also on a screen, with the help of a magic lantern.

The accompanying program is suitable for families with children aged 6 and over and is led by an experienced lecturer from the Free Cinema organization.

In the Hradec Bio Central, you will find a queer-themed discussion between the screenings of the Close and Will-o'-the-Wisp films. The debate will not only be about the sufferings of the life of the LGBT community in the Czech Republic and the European Union but also the representation of minorities in politics and the state of Czech society in relation to minorities. Europe can be an excellent example of where to go. The discussion recording will also be shown in other festival cities after the screenings of the movie Will-o'-the-Wisp.

The mayor of Hradec Králové, Ms. Pavlína Springerová, the mayor of Tetín Matěj Hlavatý, and influencer Lenka Králové will take part in the debate, moderated by Roman Vyšanský.

The Office of the European Parliament organizes the screening as part of the 'LUX Film Days' of the European Parliament and the European Film Academy.
